Second Annual 529 Day Celebration

On May 29th, 2019 Providence Promise hosted its Second Annual 529 Day Celebration in recognition of the National 529 College Savings Plan Day. This event was an opportunity to acknowledge the success of Providence Promise families in their college savings journeys, introduce children and families to a host of college and career centered activities, games, and resources, and build community. As of March 31st of this year, families have saved over $144,000 in their children’s 529 College Savings Accounts, and continue to grow these savings each month. There are currently 365 children enrolled in the program from 200 families.

Local non-profits, community organizations, police and fire, elected officials, and various other businesses and individuals in the community participated in and attended the event, which drew around 150 people. Additionally, a group from the Providence Promise Parent Council hosted a bake sale and raffle fundraiser to benefit Providence Promise.

Providence Promise families, students, and staff are joined by Councilwoman Helen Anthony, Councilwoman Carmen Castillo, Board Member Richard Spies, Founder Richard Lappin, and Mr. Deep Positivity.
