PROGRAMMING

Family Engagement Program
PVD Promise believes strongly in the power of family engagement, and that families are our best allies in the work to improve the future educational and professional success of our children. Family engagement is based on the idea that parents and others who care for their children work together creating a partnership to prepare children for success.
Our Family Engagement Program includes:
-
A Parent Council
-
On-going workshops, meetings, and opportunities to hear from guest speakers
-
An annual 529 Day Celebration and Multicultural Night
-
And more!
In 2022, PVD Promise hosted 1-2 engagements a week, totaling 80 programs, workshops, and events during the year.
Youth Engagement Program
The Youth Engagement Program is designed to support high school students with developing and attaining their post-secondary goals and aspirations.
Our Youth Engagement Program includes:
-
A Youth Council
-
A Mentorship program for middle and high school students with current college students to support with college preparation and access
-
Career Exploration Panels
-
College Visits
Just launched in 2022, the Youth Engagement Program is continuing to grow in 2023.

Early Scholarship Program
The Early Scholarship Program is PVD Promise's largest program, awarding more than $250,000 directly to students' CSAs in 2022 alone. This program offers opportunities for families to earn additional college savings beyond the initial $100 seed deposit at enrollment. Students and their parents/guardians can participate in hundreds of incentivized activities, such as completing a book report, attending a PTO meeting, participating in an after-school club or activity, accomplishing an academic goal, and more. PVD Promise incentivizes participation in its programming, as well.
The purpose of this program is to:
-
Encourage participation in positive academic and extracurricular opportunities for both Providence Promise families and students;
-
Partner with families to assist them in building assets in their 529 College Savings Accounts; and
-
Build a college-going culture within the enrolled families as well as within the Providence Public School system and the community as a whole.
